Embracing the Transition from Vacation to Workplace Productivity

Returning from vacation often feels like stepping into a different world. The relaxed pace, freedom to explore, and time away from daily responsibilities create a stark contrast with my daily routines. This shift can be challenging, but it also offers an opportunity to reset your mindset and boost productivity.
This was my 4th visit to Australia to see my son and his family. Another great family vacation. They had purchased a new home with a very overgrown yard so I had such a good time gardening, trimming, pruning and figuring out what plants were what. Thanks in kind to the app "Picture This". Bonus for never running into snakes nor spiders. I don't like the lizards but I don't jump too high around them.
Planning my return home soon
Jumping straight into a full workload can be overwhelming so I plan to ease back in. Primarily, try to avoid jet lag. However, I do have sales that need to be shipped. I have found a pretty good way to avoid jet lag - take Melotonin a week before my flight, stay up later and get up earlier. Keep taking Melotonin for an extra week. Seems to work pretty well for me.
Prioritize tasks. I have some custom orders that need to be done.
Set realistic goals. I am starting to update some of my bird patterns. Of course now I have some more patterns to create of my favourite birds from here.
Schedule buffer time. Time to chill, paint, workout and relax
almost like living in a zoo
The kid's home is just one house away from a nature reserve, where numerous kangaroos frequently gather. I've taken an excessive number of photos of them. We really enjoyed strolling there in the afternoons. Watching the kangaroos hop by while sitting on the deck is quite enjoyable, too.
Use Vacation Insights to Improve Work Habits
Vacations offer a fresh perspective. I use insights gained during my time off to enhance and improve my work life.
Identify what helped you relax. Could mindfulness or nature walks fit into your daily schedule? I would love to take more morning walks with Mallory. Do more yoga classes and return to painting. Small changes can have a big impact.
I do find my work relaxing unless I am on a tight schedule.
Use Tools to Stay Organized
I love using a planner to manage tasks and deadlines efficiently. I color code work blue, with homelife pink. I use a paper planner as well as the app. Not that I actually follow my tasks exactly but I find it great to see whats up next and track progress. I like to see my week at a glance.
For example, setting a daily to-do list with three main goals can keep you focused and motivated.
A few more vacay pictures only....i promise
Very grateful for my sister-n-law Connie and my mom for looking after Mallory and Kiwi. Awesome to have my pets at a safe & loving home while I have been gone. Everything will be back up and running normally soon. First shipping date will be April 24th. Shipping times will return to the usual 3-5 days.
Happy spring to everyone. Looks like winter is "almost" in the rearview mirror!
