Every day in my stained glass workshop brings a fresh burst of color and creativity. The tables are alive with pieces of glass waiting to be transformed into art. Today is no different. As I step into the studio, I see a variety of projects at different stages, each telling its own story and promising a unique final piece. Let me take you on a tour of what’s currently on my stained glass workshop tables and share the details behind these beautiful creations.
small Decorative Items Ready for Assembly
Scattered across the tables are several stained glass suncatchers. These are smaller projects all in different stages of production. The projects on my tables today will soon move to the next stages. Some will be soldered and framed, others will receive finishing touches like patina or polishing. Birds will be installed on wood bases.
Each piece will eventually find its home—whether to my website, Etsy, the galleries - facebook.com/people/On-the-Avenue-Artisans-Gallery/100063542163636/ theartisanfarmhouse.square.site, dandelionartframing.ca and the Smeaton Post Office Knowing that these creations will bring beauty and light to others is what drives the work forward. You will also find my art at the Keethanow gallery in Waskesui, SK this June.
Each suncatcher uses a mix of translucent and iridescent glass, designed to catch sunlight and cast colorful reflections. These pieces are perfect for gifts or to brighten a window. They help deter birds from hitting the windows as well.
The Role of Light in Stained Glass
One of the most fascinating aspects of stained glass is how it interacts with light. The glass pieces on my tables are not just colorful fragments; they are windows that transform sunlight into a spectrum of hues.
Different types of glass—opaque, translucent, textured, and iridescent—affect how light passes through. This interplay creates dynamic effects that change throughout the day. When these pieces are installed in a window, they bring warmth and life to any space.
What’s Next up?
Birds, birds and more birds. All the streets in Waskesui are named after birds, I might just make one of each if time allows. I have some new country themed items too. What would you like to see being created?
