focus on february

I love that recharge that a holiday gives me. So many ideas floating around that I need to work on. I came home at the end of January after adding #6 grandchild to the list. Vienna was born on her mom's birthday. Great timing hey!!

The morning I left for British Columbia there was such a beautiful sunset in my rearview mirror that I had to capture it. We went for freezing cold walks before the baby came. and had my first baby cuddles with Vienna when she was about one hour old. Being with your daughter during the birth is the most amazing feeling ever. I have been lucky to be with her for two and for Megan & Brandon's first child as well. She looks like Frankie. Her little twin 5 years younger. Totally had to fight the kids to hold her. They are such great helps to their mom. Well, sometimes.

I installed a new lead came panel in the homeschool cabinet while I was there. The cabinet door was a big improvement on the previous broken etched panel!!

A lot of bird sculptures have sold over the season and I have been spending my time making more of those. I have designed a couple new updated bird sculptures. including Magpies and Bluebirds. I am still not sure about the Bluebird. I am thinking it might need to be a little smaller as those birds "are" smaller. What do you think?

I am really happy with the Magpie. The blue is really vibrant with light streaming through from behind. I have adjusted the other Magpie a little too. I plan on tuning up most of the birds. Freshen them up and make some other changes.

Finishing up a custom order for 2 Ibis on Driftwood. Took me all summer to find the perfect piece of wood. After I wash and bleach the wood, I usually let it sit and dry for a few months. I think that top piece of driftwood in the picture is the one she will choose. The birds are pretty big so it takes a larger piece of driftwood for them.

Just for fun here is a picture out the back door of the garage.....kind of a lot of snow there. Should probably shovel it but instead we just use other doors. Winters on the downslide now thankfully.

As February comes to a close, I am filled with gratitude for the time spent with family and the creative projects that keep me busy. The arrival of Vienna has brought so much joy, and I look forward to seeing how she grows and changes. My work with the bird sculptures continue to evolve, and I am excited about new designs and improvements. Here is to a productive and fulfilling March ahead!

Live laugh love,

Dorri
